A few used items were scattered about, but the majority of what they carry was medium to high end. The gentleman who helped us was knowledgeable and seemed like the sort of dude who had used most of the machines at one time or another.
Worst sales experience EVER! Do not trust what you are getting or what you are told. Buyer beware of high pressure sales tactics, shady business practices, poor customer service, and floor models that are not up to snuff. While not looking, the machine I thought I was purchasing was swapped out for the other floor model that was making a clicking noise. I had no idea this happened until I went to use the equipment on the 17th day. Really? A service call already? The call I made on the 17th day raised multiple red flags and I decided it would be cheaper to take a loss. Every piece of equipment on the floor is like buying a new car. The second you drive it off the lot it depreciates 20% plus tax. (20% of tax paid is also lost upon agreeing to pay the restock fee [tax law violation???]) Simply put, 30 days from date of purchase you have paid $1400 for a piece of the equipment that is now worth $400 bucks. Warranty is void on the 31st day if resold, transferred or returned. Think long and hard if you want to buy something new. Octane is the only brand in the store that strongly stands behind warranties. This company simply wants your money not the problems they sell you.
We have gotten a cable machine (mi6) new, rower new, and a used treadmill there. Great staff, low pressure environment, and great equipment. Most of their stuff is new despite the name of the store. Our rower broke within the first month and they happily took it back and gave a full cash refund. They are cheaper than amazon for a lot of stuff also.
The selection was by no means vast, but was more than what you'd find at Scheels or Big 5. They seemed to specialize in higher end machines that ranged from $800 to $3-4K. A lot of what they carry was larger in size and good for people with tons of space for equipment.
Forever, we thought this spot was a simple play on words that meant the stuff we were buying was used. We were informed that "2nd wind" is indeed an exercise term, but that the majority of things were indeed new.
I couldn't be happier with the customer service I received from Matt! I know I wasn't the easiest customer to please and there were a few issues. Matt was very professional throughout and made sure I was satisfied with my purchase.
Lots of equipment, both new AND used. Knowledgeable sales staff who are extremely accommodating and helpful when going over options.
Overall, it's a nice place if you've got a huge room to dedicate to work out equipment. For those of us who are interested in smaller equipment and 1, maybe 2 pieces of workout equipment, you may some luck here, or you might do just as well at a department store.
